FGMNG Fundraising Social Golf September 2025

On Friday 12th September 2025, the club came together to raise funds for Fore Get Me Not Golf.
A heavy downpour of rain before the event thankfully cleared to give us all a beautiful evening for the ever challenging 3 Clubs and a Putter event (Made ever more challenging when you are stood in a bunker holding an 8 iron!!).

Following the golf, everyone came together in the clubhouse where there was a speech from Dereham's Fore Get Me Not lead Sarah, and the prizes were kindly presented by Ladies President Jane Bizley.
There were prizes for the top three in both the Ladies and Mens divisions, as well as spot prizes for both divisions for Nearest the Pin on the par 3 12th hole.
Ladies Nearest the Pin was won by Jane Bizley with a lovely tee shot that skated off the top of the bunker and ran nearest to the hole, just beating out Helen Burrage's fine effort.
The Mens Nearest the Pin was won by James Noakes, who very nearly recorded his first ever Hole in One. Instead he had to satisfy himself with the easiest of 2s, knowledge that it would be VERY difficult for anyone to get inside his marker, and relief he avoided what would have been a chunky bar bill for the event!!
Peter Brightwell received the special recognition Gnome Trophy. We can neither confirm nor deny the reason he won it, but there was a slight resemblance between them. Well done Peter!

Overall, the evening raised a fantastic £132 for the Fore Get Me Not Golf sessions at Dereham, helping to ensure we can continue to run them and provide a great experience from those living with dementia and their carers.

A big thank you to Sarah and her team for organising the event, and an even bigger thank you to everyone who came out to support this wonderful cause.

There are more events planned in 2026, where we are looking to go bigger and better than ever before. Watch this space.

An amazing turnout for out first Fore Get Me Not Golf session. After everyone getting out onto the putting green, a few moved on to playing the first hole.
Thank you to our kind volunteers who helped make today possible, be it by providing the 1to1 support or by donating the very delicious cake enjoyed by all. Thank you also to Sarah and Stuart for all their continuing hard work in getting this initiative off the ground at Dereham Golf Club.
The biggest thank you goes to our attendees and the family & friends. The smiles, laughter and enjoyment makes it all worthwhile.

We can't wait to see you all again for our next session on Thursday 21st March.

Volunteer Training Session

We were please to welcome Wendy from Home Instead who kindly provided some training to our Fore Get Me Not Golf volunteers. This was provided to help us understand the lived experiences of people living with dementia, and how we can provide support and opportunities within our sessions.
